Get to Know Me
I am Dr. Jane Njeri Gacohi, a lecturer at Egerton University in the Department of Psychology and Counselling. I hold a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from Egerton, and a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology with a focus on Career Psychology.
For over 22 years, I taught Mathematics and Chemistry at several secondary schools, including Mwea Boys, Solian Girls, Ndururumo High School, Kabarak High School, and Afraha High School. My interest in career guidance sparked in 1996, when the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) appointed me to head the Guidance and Counselling Department. I continued in this role at both Kabarak and Afraha High Schools before joining Egerton University in 2011.
In addition to teaching, I serve as the Lead Career Counsellor and Consultant for Life Brook Counselling Services (LBCS) in Nakuru, where I offer psychological and career counselling services to both groups and individuals. I am passionate about helping people navigate their career paths, and I frequently conduct workshops and talks on career guidance for schools, colleges, and community groups.
On a personal note, I am married to Michael Gacohi, and together we are blessed with two wonderful children.
